To multiply binomials, use the FOIL method. FOIL stands for First, Outside, Inside, Last and refers to the position of each term in the parentheses:

(y + 2)(y - 3)
(y x y) + (y x -3) + (2 x y) + (2 x -3)
y² - 3y + 2y - 6
y² - y - 6

To solve this equation, repeatedly do the same thing to both sides of the equation until the variable is isolated on one side of the > sign and the answer on the other.

9y - 7 > \( \frac{y}{7} \)
7 x (9y - 7) > y
(7 x 9y) + (7 x -7) > y
63y - 49 > y
63y - 49 - y > 0
63y - y > 49
62y > 49
y > \( \frac{49}{62} \)
y > \(\frac{49}{62}\)

The formula for circumference is circle diameter x π. Circle diameter is 2 x radius:

c = πd
c = π(2 * r)
c = π(2 * 6)
c = 12π

To multiply monomials, multiply the coefficients (the numbers that come before the variables) of each term, add the exponents of like variables, and multiply the different variables together.

(8a)(2ab) - (3a²)(3b)
(8 x 2)(a x a x b) - (3 x 3)(a² x b)
(16)(a¹⁺¹ x b) - (9)(a²b)
16a²b - 9a²b
7a²b

When solving an equation with two variables, replace the variables with the values given and then solve the now variable-free equation. (Remember order of operations, PEMDAS, Parentheses, Exponents, Multiplication/Division, Addition/Subtraction.)
